Accessibility and this Podcast

I'm making an effort to ensure this podcast is accessible to as many people as possible. As a primarily audio-based format, podcasting can be challenging for those who are deaf or hard of hearing.

To address that challenge, I'm transcribing every episode. My podcasting host, Transistor.fm, allows me to attach the transcript (which I include as a subtitles file) to each episode. It serves that transcript in the podcast feed.

Unfortunately, most podcasting apps don't yet make use of this standard. To see a list of newer apps and webapps that will display subtitles/transcripts, check out this page.

The other place you can consume the podcast with subtitles is the podcast's YouTube channel. All episodes auto-publish to YouTube, which generates its AI subtitles (that, as you can guess, are less than great). By the end of the day the podcast is released, I'll upload a proper set of subtitles to the video to avoid the problems with Google's transcription.

All of that said, please let me know if there's anything else I can do to improve the accessibility of the podcast. Go ahead and send me an email, and I'll look into it.
